Eugenia was born in Crete, Greece. At the age of 18 she left home to pursue her higher education studies abroad. She has lived 17 years in the UK and 24 in Italy. She qualified as a teacher(QTS status) in the UK, holds a B.A in Modern Foreign Languages(Italian and French), a PGCE in Secondary Education(ESL & French) and an M.A in Applied Linguistics specialising in Bilingualism and Bilingual Education. She has taught all age groups from Day Care to adult education, as well as at Greek Community schools. When she moved to Italy, she worked as Head of Section at a branch of a big International IB school. However the birth of her second daughter stood as an incentive for her to start her own bilingual school (Play English and The Bilingual school of Monza), where she worked as the founding director, for 21 years. Throughout her career, Eugenia was heavily involved in teacher and parent education and she is known of being a fervent advocate of mother tongue maintenance.
Eugenia has two daughters who she brought up trilingual from birth, and today she takes pride of how their trilingualism led them to plurilingualism and to being two confident and active world citizens.
In 2017 Eugenia returned back to her home country with the hope that she could offer some of her experience and know-how to local schools. She worked as a consultant at a local private school to help the school transit into a bilingual school model.
Eugenia has now retired, but continues to work as a freelance educational consultant and a teacher of Greek as a foreign or second language.
