Alicia is passionate about working with minority ethnolinguistic communities, English language learners, and their families. She is inspired to leverage her expertise in speech and language pathology, bilingualism, and leadership to support policies that encourage language proficiency, academic achievement, and a shared understanding of bilingualism, multilingualism, and multiculturalism among Multilingual Language Learners (MLL), their families, and educational institutions. Currently, Alicia is in the process of completing her Doctor of Speech and Language Pathology (SLPD) at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMUoHP). Her research centers on bilingualism and autism, specifically using a parent-led intervention to teach Spanish-speaking parents effective language facilitation strategies to support their children with autism.
